Street food isn’t a fad any more – it’s not The Next Big Thing. It’s part of the fabric of our society. So, finding and rewarding the best that’s out there is our national duty. We started the British Street Food Awards 14 years ago. And the special BSFA logo that’s issued to the finalists chosen to compete each year – from over 2,000 applicants – is a real badge of honour. So why not give it a go in 2025? Application form here.
2023 was our best year yet for PR and media. Check it out here. But 2024 is shaping up to be even better. Check out number 5 in The Guardian’s list of 30 things we love in the world of food. And watch the BSFA founder on BBC Breakfast talking about street food and social media, and listen to him on You and Yours talking about street food and the new generation of food halls. Now we’ve launched in the USA. Street food and the British Street Food Awards are front and centre.
A British Street Food Award genuinely changes lives. Wingmans, big winners at the BSFA and the ESFA in 2017, recently opened up their second ‘proper’ restaurant. MEATliquor, who won at the Awards back in 2009 – now have nine of the things. Bao have five. This year the BSFA champions will be going to compete in the grand final of the 2024 European Street Food Awards in Germany. BSFA winners go places. Literally.

The Best Looking, which is a public vote for the UK’s coolest van, truck or trailer, is sponsored by Majisign. And the Sustainability Award is judged by the Sustainable Restaurant Association.
Food Mutiny – the company behind the Awards in Britain – will been running Awards in 16 European countries this summer. And the USA! “We don’t want a fixed starter-main course-dessert menu any more” says Richard Johnson, founder of Food Mutiny. “We want a bit of this and a bit of that. Flirty, low-commitment dining. Plus it’s inclusive. And in a world like ours, that’s a positive message right now.”
