Sustain Ability?

Do you deserve our Sustainability Award? Are you doing something above and beyond, the deserves some recognition? Maybe you’re committed to minimising food waste and making it a thing of the past? Or focusing on the wider social impact of your business and how it interacts with your community? Do you prioritise provenance by cultivating a clean supply chain? If so, then we want to hear all about it.

We are, as always, advised in these things by the Sustainable Restaurant Association, who provide foodservice businesses with a manageable means of understanding, reviewing and acting on the issues that matter. This free-to-enter Award is designed to celebrate street food traders who go the extra mile to operate sustainably. Simply complete this short online questionnaire. It only takes ten minutes, and it could change your business forever.

We have had some great winners over the years. There was ArtiSam, with a menu that’s always free range, with NO single use plastics. Honest Edibles took the Award by growing veg from composted food waste using permaculture principles and offering a plant-based menu that changes seasonally – carefully sourcing ingredients that are locally abundant and organically grown.

“We were so chuffed” says Nat from Grounded Mcr, who won the Award selling specialty coffee from a trike staffed by anxiety sufferers. “The Award win helped us secure more event pitches, started many important conversations, increased our social media following and helped us stand out in a crowded market space. It’s also contributed to us winning grants.”

But whose name will be on the trophy this year? Get along to the grand finals of the 2023 British Street Food Awards at Hackney Bridge – August 18-20 – and see for yourself.
