Sustain Able?

We all want to be sustainable. The planet demands it and, increasingly, customers and festival organisers. As we gear up for the 2021 British Street Food Awards (check out the heats here) with our target of zero food waste at the final, we want to hear about how traders are managing to blaze trails in these difficult times. Take five minutes to apply to be the Most Sustainable trader of 2021.

In 2020 and 2021 any thoughts of sustainability have probably been about sustaining yourself, your family and your livelihood. But, as we get back to work, we’ve all got a chance to make small decisions with big impact. Have you returned to service without those plastic straws? Relaunched with a new sustainable supplier, or with your most veg-led menu yet? Maybe you used lock-down to build an on-the-road-food-composter? Let us know everything/anything by clicking here.

Once again we’re working with the Sustainable Restaurant Association who will be running the application process and compiling our shortlist for Britain’s Most Sustainable trader. And Eighth Plate, who will repurpose any leftover food at the heats. Honest Edibles walked away with the top prize last year. But who will it be when we decide on our winner at the BSFA finals at the Freedom Festival in September. Get busy!
