Apply Yourself!

Slowly, very slowly, we’re starting to remember what freedom tastes like. Pubs and restaurants are opening up – outdoors. There’s street food trading on the streets – in a measured way – and we’re getting ready to join society again. After the toughest year in our 11-year history, it’s time to find the champions of the 2021 British Street Food Awards.

Last year we were one of only a handful of organisations that managed to run live food events in a pandemic. And shout about it on BBC’S Saturday Kitchen. Check this out. We learnt how to deliver things safely AND soundly, and can’t wait to do it again. We’re growing the Street Food Awards in Europe (although the restrictions on cross-border travel means a grand final in 2021 is unlikely). We’ll have to settle on launching the first ever USA Street Food Awards. Yee ha!

One more thing. After 11 years of hunting down the best that’s out there, Food Mutiny (who run the Street Food Awards in Britain, Europe and the USA) have a habit of blazing trails and breaking talent. So we decided we need our own stage where the best can perform. With the best traders on rotation. With Bumper Bar + Kitchens, we will get to raise the bar. Watch this space…

WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN OUR PLANS?

Head straight over to our new application form. If chosen, you’ll be invited to compete in your heat (where there is a people’s vote and a judges’ vote, plus wild cards for the traders our judges think deserve them). Winners go through to the British finals in September, so make 100% certain you’re available. That champion’s trophy won’t lift itself you know…
