How The Final Works

It’s crunch time. The biggest street food competition in the world is nearing the end. Thousands of traders entered, less than 100 were chosen to compete, and – at five regional heats – 17 won their way through to the grand final. Now, the very best vans, trucks and trailers in the business, from up and down the country, will be cooking to be crowned Britain’s BEST at Peddler Market in Sheffield on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.

We’ll be announcing our guest judges, and the finalists’ menus soon. Just know that there’s an EXQUISITE range of modern British street food on offer: 6-hour slow-cooked Welsh lamb biryani; Naija bbq chicken; handmade Hong Kong vegan dumplings; the definitive banana pudding; curry goat; Ayrshire pork porchetta panuozzo; 18 hour oak and pecan smoked brisket; Sichuan sweet and sour ribs; coriander and fennel seed Pembrokeshire potato stuffed peppers; vegetarian bear claw donuts. And much, much, MUCH more. This is one NOT to miss.

HOW IT WORKS 👇

Try as many finalists as you can and vote for your favourites in the People’s Choice Award. Our expert judges will choose the Champions. All the winners – including the winners of our Sustainability Award, plus our online votes for Best Looking, Best Food Hall and Best Digital Content Creator – will be announced on Sunday. Which gives them just enough time to fill up with petrol before they’re off to represent the UK at the final of the 2026 European Street Food Awards in Germany September 18-20.

Honestly, the finals of the 2026 British Street Food Awards couldn’t be happening anywhere more fitting. Because if anyone has helped lead the street food revolution in the North, it’s Peddler. What started as a warehouse market became a movement — championing independents, backing proper talent, and proving that some of the best meals in Britain are eaten standing up with a beer in hand. We can’t wait.

Sheffield is now one of the UK’s top foodie cities. From Kelham Island to Castlegate, delis to indie bakeries, natural wine bars to smoky warehouse grills, Sheffield has quietly built one of the most exciting and authentic food scenes in the UK. With huge redevelopment transforming the city centre, a booming independent culture, and national attention finally catching up, the city’s culinary rise feels unstoppable.

In fact, Sheffield is home to big BSFA winners (shout out to Pellizco) and has won the British Street Food Award for Best Food Hall more times than London — and honestly, we know why. Now, in Peddler’s 13th year, the very best street food traders in Britain are heading to Sheffield for the national finals as part of a specially extended three-day edition of the market. And you get to vote on the winner. Along with our superstar team of judges.

Big flavours. Big crowds. Big Sheffield energy.

Eat Drink Vote. The UK’s food scene is heading north — and Sheffield’s ready for it. 🍔🌯🍺
