House Of The Dragon
The 2023 Welsh Street Food Awards are BACK – in Cardiff on the weekend of July 29-30. Traders should apply (now, obvs) via the application form on the website. And everyone else should immediately mark the dates on their calendar in blood.
The Welsh Street Food Awards are always a special date on the BSFA calendar. The Welsh just get street food. Jonathan from Cafe Mor, the seaweed forager from Pembrokeshire, first won the British Street Food Awards back in 2012 – and earnt the right to trade in the Olympic village. In 2021, Janet’s Authentic Northern Chinese, did it again, with Fire and Flank taking home Best Main Dish and Keralan Karavan taking Best Sandwich. In 2022 The Bearded Taco took home Best Vegetarian – but what about 2023?
The Welsh Street Food Awards always attract media attention. Joanne Page – from Gavin and Stacey and BBC Radio Wales – wanted to speak to our judges about the finalists. And Krish from Keralan Karavan was invited on to Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 to talk about his the reasons why he won the Best Sandwich title. But who do you fancy for 2023? Please let us know, and nag your favourites to apply. We’ll be announcing the Cardiff location soon – you won’t be disappointed.
