UK’s Most Sustainable Trader?
The UK has one of the most dynamic and diverse hospitality sectors in the world. The pubs unite our communities. Our restaurants are some of the very best in the world. And our street food? Right up there. But for a sector that exists to bring people together, the impact of the virus was always going to be considerable. And its effects are still being felt. So thoughts of sustainability haven’t always been a top priority.
Some businesses, however, chose to make sustainability their USP. They realised, as they started back to work, that anyone could make small decisions with big impact. Whether it was returning to service without plastic straws, relaunching with a new sustainable supplier, or their most veg-led menu yet. But our Top Five finalists in the 2021 British Street Food Award for Most Sustainable Trader – sponsored by the Sustainable Restaurant Association – were a cut above.

Louisa Dodd from the Sustainable Restaurant Association will choose the winners in association with the British Street Food Awards team, and we’ll announce the winners at the 2021 grand finals at Freedom Festival in Hull. We’ll be joining the traders, and Eighth Plate, in ensuring that any leftover food gets repurposed to local food charities, as we work towards a zero food waste event. Next year we’ll set the bar higher. Our Top Five have inspired us….
