Get Down On It

Finally. Some GOOD news. Taking the dirty vegan menu to new heights, at the Central Heats of the British Street Food Awards supported by Hellmann’s at Bustler Market, will be none other than Doner Summer. Their big point of difference? They make all their own vegan meats — “which means the heart of the dish is something we put lots of hours of love and work into” says Andy Tordoff. You can really taste it. Evidence? Their Bad Girl Berlin. Ouch.

Will it be enough to beat the shamelessly meaty Flying Cows? The soft but crisp Wildfire Pizza Co? Homeboys, Jade Rabbit and koKoDoo on the Asian tip? The Italian flavours of Litte Orange Co – or the Mexican spicing Sonora Tacos? Their game will certainly have to be strong. The Duck Shed will be finger licking good. With Flats offering a vegan menu for pudding. The judges – plus YOU THE PUBLIC – will have your work cut out choosing a winner.

“We took the dirty kebab and made a 100% plant based version, with fresh salads, homemade sauces and a few cheeky hash brown hunks” says Andy. “Add some of our favourite disco hits and you’ve got a portable kebab party which tours the country and gets great feedback from vegans and hard-core carnivores alike.” Doner Kebab’s ambition for the future? 1. Win big at the BSFA. 2. Open multiple sites around the UK. 3. Get a massive disco ball. Come on – let’s get down on it!
