Love the idea of street food as an agent of social change. Richard Johnson of British Street Food wrote about it in the Guardian — but we thought the whole thing had stalled. Wrong. After Box Chicken in Newham attracted the attention of Jay Rayner on The One Show, We Are What We Do are now working with Hackney Council to extend the pilot that provides tasty, affordable, healthy food near to schools. From this week, for 6 months, they will be working with Riojae’s Cuisine on Hackney Road, outside Mecca Bingo, serving up delicious Caribbean dishes at competitive prices. It’s a Monday to Wednesday lunchtime pitch — so please come down. It needs to succeed.
