Meat Sweats
It isn’t a good time to be vegetarian right now. Everywhere you look — meat. There’s the much-anticipated (and completely sold out) Tweat Up celebration of National Burger Day. And that’s closely followed by Meatopia — a ‘bacchanal of pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, turkey and quail’. Tofu clearly needs to appoint itself a new PR company.
Described as a ‘meat lover’s paradise’ (New York Magazine), Meatopia is a celebration of BBQing, smoking and grilling. It’s a ‘rare breed’ food event, started in the US (above) but it’s set to become a serious fixture in the British calendar, with chefs such as St John’s Fergus Henderson, Gizzi Erskine, and Pitt Cue’s Tom Adams creating bespoke recipes for the event.
With just three weeks to go, today saw the release of some of the dishes that punters can expect when the event takes place at London’s Tobacco Dock. Trust me — by the end you’ll be sweating gravy.
