Spot the foreigner. There’s no carrot in the carrot cake — it’s a variant of radish. And it’s not really what I call a cake. There are two variants: the “white” version uses beaten egg to form a crust and is savoury; the “black” version uses molasses and is sweet. Enter THIS in the Great British Bake Off and you would cause a stir.
