This was just a fish slice accident waiting to happen. But that didn’t stop the street food team from China slinging it about — these guys were up for a laugh. The 37 different stalls, gathered from all over the world, were the highlight of the first World Street Food Congress in Singapore. A couple of Indian roti masters had walked for two days to catch the train to get them to the airport. The lowlight? The fact that only one European country was invited to cook. Britain can’t take it personally — there was nobody there cooking from Africa either. If this event is to move forward, that needs to be sorted. Hope to see you next year?
