It’s a big day — British Street Food has come indoors. And, on one of the hottest days of the year, we are lucky enough to be selling ice cream! Not just ANY ice cream, you understand. It’s the delicious curds of Ginger’s Comfort Emporium. As part of a new collaboration between British Street Food and the food and travel experts SSP, the winners of The Best Of The Best in the 2012 British Street Food Awards have parked up their brand new Vespa Ape in Manchester Airport for the summer. Gingers make ice cream for grown-ups, with odd flavour combinations like Extra Virgin Olive Oil With Smoked Sea Salt. “Try before you buy is totally fine with us” says founder Claire Kelsey. With other British Street Food traders such as Spit and Roast, Fish&, The Hungry Gecko, Streatza, Manjit’s Kitchen and Greedy Bassets currently feeding the great and the good at the Manchester International Festival, that whole ‘grim’ thing just doesn’t work any more.
